Hoh boy, this question is running around in my grain daily, guys, gals, and nonbines. I auditioned many many MANY narrators, and found two I liked. (Finding someone that could do a British accent was nearly fucking impossible). When I finally found someone I liked, Amazon changed the rules and I…I just can’t figure out what to do. So, in typical ADHD fashion, I just sort of procrastinated. I don’t want to reward Amazon by using their ACX service when I know they can (and will) keep moving the goal posts to steal more author/narrator money. Then they started introducing more AI authors. Where does it end? I dunno, but I can’t in good conscience use ACX. I just can’t. (I offered the old narrator $4k btw to do it. So I’ve tried.) Where that leaves me? I dunno. Without a book or narrator atm.
I honestly don’t think there will be an audiobook. Which…ugh it just all sucks. Greed sucks. Y’know?
Anyway, that’s the latest whine…I mean update.

Hi
I’m sorry to hear there will be no audiobook, but I think you’re doing the right thing! If the narrator is wrong it can ruin a book and make you depressed about it, and avoiding AI is absolutely the right thing to do under any circumstances. Still, it’s horrible for you. And your readers who would buy it immediately (like me. I mean me). Thank you for trying and letting us know, that all must have been difficult.
All the best
Patricia
