Why is it September and I’m Not Done?

This is Newb, our new kitten. Newb is my peace offering for being gone so long. I hope he has made you feel less stabby towards me. He seems to have that effect.

Now, let’s get to updates!

I had a brain fart for most of April and May and June…and some of July. Those months I just couldn’t even look at NSI. During July, I decided to force myself to start writing every day. DIdn’t matter what I wrote or if it was just editing, I had to sit down and work for at least an hour. For some reason, that did the trick. I’d hoped to do the update at the beginning of August, but I didn’t get into a rhythm of writing until about mid-month. Now, I’m writing every day without forcing it. In fact, I’ve been getting to the gym later and later because I wanted to finish whatever I was doing at the time on NSI! This is good news for y’all, it’s not so good news for arm day. I may end up looking like a T Rex but at least my book will be done! That’s all I really have to report on NSI. I wish it was more. I had hoped it’d be more, but at least there’s good news. Right?

The other good news I have is that Sara Alva just published her audiobook for Pura Vida and her narrator is the same guy who did Shattered Glass! =D He’s awesome. It’s awesome. You should check it out. They did a kinda fun interview too.

Blurb:

Simon has found himself in an open relationship for the summer – though not by choice. Instead of wallowing, he’s decided to make the most of a family vacation to Costa Rica by hooking up with the first hot guy available. The trouble is, he has no clue how to go about doing that.

Luckily, he runs into someone with a little more experience. But when the moments of lust turn into something more, Simon isn’t so sure he’ll be able to return to his old relationship. And there’s no way to hold onto this new one, either, as thousands of miles will separate them in only a few short weeks. Either way, he’ll have to learn to let go.

Over the next few days, i’m going to be answering emails and comments that I’ve neglected for the last few months (because I’m an ass and also because I felt so shitty for not having any updates!)

  • I just finished “Shattered Glass” and I just wanted to drop by and say I loved it. Don’t know why it took me so long to get to is but the up side is that maybe I’ll have less time to wait for NSI??? *fingers crossed* In any case no pressure. You should publish when you think you’ve got the story that you want to tell right. Good luck and I hope the summer was fabulous!

  • I have a bad feeling that this book will never be published. The more you wait Dani, the more difficult it’ll be. Just my 2c and I hope like hell I’m just having a bad day and I’m being overly pessimistic because I LOVED Shattered Glass and I know I should have more faith in you but experience I had with writers who kept postponing for *years* tell me that I’m almost ready to give up. Almost!

I know this is a frustrating process. I wish inspiration would just pop out of thin air, like it did with SG. But, I had stewed on SG for nearly a 3 years before I sat down to write it =) I hope you’ll be patient, but I do understand your frustration <3.

  • Hi Dani! I’ve just read Shattered glass and i’ve loved the character so much! I’m dying to read Cai’s story and Darryl’s, OMG!! *_______*
Just write the books you love!
Here a new hooked reader, :D.

  • This is going to sound weird, but THANK GOD NOT SO INNOCENT ISN’T OUT YET.
Let me explain. I was literally going out of my freaking mind because I couldn’t find it anywhere and I thought I was going to have to move to the US or the UK only so I could read NSI. Seriously though, it’s been a very frustrating week.
I just wanted to tell you that I admire you a lot, I love your characters and your style of writing and just about everything about your works. I had never read a book that made me feel so happy and intrigued and anxious at the same time. As a side note, you should totally put somewhere in the cover of Shatter Glass a big sign that said: CAUTION – do not read if you’re supposed to be asleep and quiet. I’m not kidding when I say I got cramps from trying not to laugh out loud in the middle of the night.
So yeah, I guess I’m going to leave it at that, because this is kind of long and yeah.
Take your time with NSI, and write the book you would want to read, even if it takes more time. We can wait, and we will.
Thank you again for writing such an amazing book and for being so nice and showing us pictures of your cat.
    Kisses from Spain,
    María.

Woot, it’s nice to hear someone not wanting to chuck me into the nearest dungeon with a computer and no internet =D (Although, that might be necessary at some point >.>) Thanks for the kind words <3

I used to be impatient for a new book to be released, but I realized that just like in my life, everyone has things that take precedence over others or, sometimes no matter what you want to do, you just don’t have the drive. I certainly understand and hope that your next book will be forthcoming soon, but do it when you’re ready and truly motivated. Only then will the finished product be something that you can be proud of. And something that your fans will really enjoy. Good luck. Waiting with baited breath 😉

I’ve literally just finished rereading Shattered Glass and wish I could go straight on to NSI – that is one VERY good book. I’m delighted to hear your good news and will order NSI as soon as I can. You must be very relieved to be writing again and to know so many of us have been worried about you! Have fun and keep us posted.

I’m glad you’re fine. Maybe a break is what you needed…keep up the writing! I’m waiting for wonderful results…

  • *waves at Dani*

    Adorable kitten!!

And yes! That is INDEED great news!! 🙂
Take care. And write faster! ;P

  • Dani, I’m glad you are ok. I’ve just recently finished Shattered Glass for the umpteenth time and was waiting for a sign of live of you. I love Austin and Peter and I can’t wait for NSI – one day it will be finished and I’m sure it will be fabulous! 😉

  • Dani is among the living and look at the cuteness you have bribed the crazy masses with!!! I guess no stabbing for you now, although I think some of us were going to send out a search party to make sure you were still around.

Keep up the writing and since we are sharing cuteness, this is Castiel. I hope to have a Sam and Dean sometime to complete my Supernatural addiction. 😁

  • Yes, it is painful to wait so long for a book. I signed up for updates a long time ago to make sure I did not miss the release of your next book. I will admit that I even come and check the page occasionally, just in case there was a magical post that appeared, but for some nefarious reason did not reach my inbox. I will admit that I have dug through all of your old posts 3 times (ok, maybe 6 but do we really need to count?) to re-read the little extras you put on here. I will not stop, no matter how much I HATE waiting, because I want that book. I really, really want to read it and experience that unique pleasure that comes from reading a really good book. So we all wait and anticipate. We read and re-read the first book while we wait. And we will celebrate when it finally arrives because isn’t that something people say? Good things come to those who wait? As much as we hate it, we know your book will be worth it. 🙂

  • Dani! Thank heavens, I thought you kicked the bucket! 😛 Seriously good to hear your doing well and back to writing. Maybe a break is what you needed. Here’s a pic of my baby, her name is Rogue.

  • I read shattered glass last year and just finished re-reading it a couple days ago, so good and fun to read. It’s great to hear you’re doing well and back into it 🙂

Dani- as a huge fan I selfishly want book after book after book, never thinking about you and the toll it takes on you as the author. When it is all said and done I would rather you take the time and the brain farts and produce books that are equal to or better than Shattered Glass. Hang in there.
