Hop Against Homophobia – Day 4

I promised an intense post and I meant it. Intense for all of you who came by and read my first post. I did two days of angst, one of fun and now we’re going to have another of fun. Today is the last day of the Hop Against Homophobia and I’m giving away lots of awesome prizes for all of those who stuck with me these three days!

SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO WIN!

First prize Any t-shirt from the HRC campaign:

Second, Third are any book within the gay fiction, nonfiction or m/m genre! The limit is $10 here, I’m afraid. Or, if you wish, you can choose to have a signed copy of my paperback =)

Fourth prize is from Lenore =) The limits on this prize are any book within the gay fiction, nonfiction or m/m genre, $10 or under and it has to be through Kindle.

TO be eligible to win, you must be over 18 years old and resolve to do something this year for gay rights. I don’t care what it is–sign a petition, vote, go to Pride and wave at the pretty boys/girls, stand up to someone who speaks out against the LGTB community, volunteer for an organization that helps LGBT young–ANYTHING.

I try not to make things too hard for winning my stuff. Just respond below and leave an email address (if you use the disqus form, I get your email address already unless you leave it anonymous =))

Names Drawn randomly on the 25th!

Your posts have been wonderful, Dani 🙂 Thanks so much for taking part.

I have already organized this event, posted, and joined the GLBTQ organization in Iceland, but I vow to do more. I vow to continue to fight for GLBTQ rights through my blog and other social media. I also vow to help the Icelandic GLBTQ organization in any way I can (including volunteering for events). I’m also writing a petition to my hometown city administration to try to ensure that the GLBTQ people in my town get the support they may need.

Human Rights are Human Rights,  funny how so many try to separate or exclude “LGBT” rights from that equation. Like we’re not all human? LoL! So at every opportunity, and I create more than a few, I remind people.  Thank you Dani.

I will continue to sign petitions for promote Equal Rights for the GLBT community.  I will also speak up more to other when I hear them saying homophobic or gender/orientation biased things.  Thanks so much for sharing during this HOP 🙂

I think anyone contributing to gay rights should be very proud of themselves. I have both a male and female cousins who are gay and it hasn’t been an easy journey for either of them. I would love nothing more than to see the hating in this world against gays to finally stop. I’m proud to support the cause and try and educate others on what an amazing thing it is to be different and individual and stand up for what they believe in. And I love Dani Alexanders work and when I see the emails I get excited to see what you’ve sent each time. 🙂

This year I plan on going to a PRIDE event in my area. It’ll be my first prideevent

  • I  just wanted to thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge this past week. When I moved out to Cali from VA I thought things would be a lot different …must’ve been a little naive, b/c I was devastated when Prop 8 passed. I’d done my part by voting, but since then I’ve realized that I should try whenever possible to take a more active role.
One thing I do as frequently as possible is explain to people–family included–that they can talk to me until they’re blue in the face about the economic policies proposed by certain candidates and how they’d be better for the country… I will simply never vote for any candidate who does not believe in equal rights for all. Don’t care how good their economic policy is.

*waves*  I hope to keep educating myself on how to be sensitive in my language use when conversing with or about transgender individuals.  I have met some really great people over the last 6 months that have helped me and I plan on educating others in what I have learned.  Any and all chances will be met with conversation and if necessary heated debate 😉

Hi Dani! My daughter just came out a few months ago as Transgender Male. If nothing else, I vow to help him make the most positive adjustment and heaven help anyone who tries to hurt him because..Hell hath no fury like the mother of a child scorned.

Awww, Dani, you are so awesome! Here is what I did last year and what I will be doing again this year. I am a yoga teacher and on both Spirit Day (Against bullying of LGBT youth, Oct 20th) and Transgender Remembrance Day (Nov 5th) I taught a 7 Chakra class (the Chakras have all the colors of the rainbow), open to anyone, with a kick-ass soundtrack that includes Lady Gaga and the like, I might add.  Whatever people donate (or if they use existing class cards I donate however much they paid for the card) I pass on to a suitable charity. Last year’s were the Gay-Straight-Alliance Network and the Transgender Law Center in San Francisco. I am looking forward to doing it again this year!

  • I think it is an amazing idea Dani. I still don’t know what I am going to do (I already sign a few petitions online) here in France but I will let you know. Thank you.

  • I loved all of your posts, I have recently joined the human rights campaign, and will definetly be voting!

  • I’m going to Christopher Street Day this year with my friends.

I’ll be going to Pride again this year, where I always sign petitions and donate to HRC. Plus I will be voting in November, since we have a stupid “one man one woman” marriage referendum on the ballot.

After participating in this hop, how could anyone *not* do something? I definitely voting when the time comes. Thanks, Dani!
